For this month I read the book they called us enemy by George Takei. I am not finished with the book yet but I’m very close. The book is about a family who immigrated from japan to America because of the 1945 bombings and they have to adapt to living in a camp where they can’t escape and if they do they die. But with this happening it brought them closer as a family. My favorite character is their dad because he is the hero of the book he has done all the work for the family and still spends time with them and teaches them about life which is something i really like about his character. Also he is very kind a quote showing this is “we are going to go outside” this quote shows him being kind because he was doing something special for them because he knew they wanted to get out of the wall. My favorite quote is “its not true they lie to confuse us” this is my favorite quote because I found it funny how in the book he is just screaming out to everyone and no one is listening.

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times when one only remembers to turn on the light.” I chose this quote because everyone can have their ups and downs and i can relate because there have been times where I have been down and i just make jukes to feel better and that’s what i feel like this quote means.

My hero is my uncle Tyson. I look up to him because of his funny personality and how he used to travel the world. Traveling the world has been something i have always wanted to do and i think it’s awesome that i had an uncle who would do something as cool as that. Secondly i liked his personality, he was always super nice to me and very humorous and i strive to be like that. He was also very helpful and respectable, like the first time i got a guitar he was the first person to come and help me play it and teach me to tune it and do the basic things. So I ask you know who is your hero.

This year I’m gonna focus On the word kindness. My first reason on why I chose this word because I feel that you always have to be nice to everyone no matter who they are and what they do. Secondly being kind to someone can brighten their whole day or even just their mood and me personally that brightens my mood. Lastly if you are kind to someone else they will most likely be kind back to you and the next person and so on and so forth. Now tell me what’s your word for 2024
